Jennifer C. Adams | Senior Director | Bristol-Myers Squibb Company

As an independent consultant, Jennifer C. Adams primarily offers consulting services in the fields of life sciences and health care. Prior to independent consulting, she worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as a senior director, leading a team responsible for managing various marketing campaigns for different brands and audiences.  She coached her team members, advising them on negotiations with agencies and brands, management of timelines, and encouraging them to adopt agility in their work. Breaking down complex projects into smaller portions and working in sprints, her leadership allowed the team to deliver results quickly and efficiently. With over 30 years of experience, she is an expert in customer experience and supervision, always on the lookout for innovative solutions to support brands and disseminate their message.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Adams considers her most significant career accomplishments to come from two areas. Beginning with her first job at Prudential Financial, Inc., she spent 17 years in the financial services industry, with the latter nine focused on building online benefits. Prior to modernization efforts in the 1990s and early 2000s, no transactional 401k or financial benefits information could be accessed online.  Only a select few companies such as Fidelity, E-trade and Morgan Stanley, previously Smith Barney and Citigroup, provided such services. In 1997, Ms. Adams became the digital product manager for retirement products at Citigroup, Inc., now Citi, and built a suite of services for bigger companies, including online 401k  benefits, alongside stock plan services, and other non-qualified deferred compensation benefits. Though the roadmap took six years to complete, she is proud to say that she and her team beat Fidelity to the online suite of benefits market.

In addition to this achievement, she contributed to the modern-day management of mass-scale marketing. When she joined the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in 2011, she worked to evolve the marketing operating model, focusing only on top-priority tasks rather than all 120 projects within a campaign. During her 12 years with the company, she introduced a cloud-based collaborative software to manage launches in the United States and globally. For her work at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, she was featured in the “Employees Who Care” section of the corporate website in 2018.

In addition to her many years of experience, Ms. Adams holds a Bachelor of Science in sociology from Arizona State University, having graduated in 1992. She attributes her success to her insatiable desire to learn, which enabled her to keep pace with the rapidly evolving world of digital technology. From finance to marketing,

digital technology has become ubiquitous in all domains, but she focuses on the technical aspects and the systems involved in setting up the entire process, from the upfront phase to the creative and execution phases, and then integrating all of them with deployment platforms. Furthermore, she enjoys the challenge of gathering and analyzing data and analytics to improve future promotions.

Moving forward, Ms. Adams plans to continue her work as an independent consultant. Since 2019, she has been a volunteer parent and fundraiser with The Pennington School, a college preparatory school that provides boarding programs, and an advisory council member with Womanspace Inc., a company offering services to victims of domestic violence in Trenton, New Jersey. She plans to continue serving her community and pursuing philanthropic efforts alongside her work and hobbies, which include playing golf, jogging and cooking.
